Bochum confirm contract extension for "immense factor" Hofmann
After their disastrous start to the 2023/24 campaign, VfL Bochum have done their utmost to pump a bit of confidence into lead striker Philipp Hofmann. An early contract extension for the 30-year-old was confirmed yesterday.

Despite his poor start to the campaign, Bochum sought to send a strong message of support for their striker yesterday with the announcement that the 30-year-old had prematurely extended his contract. Hofmann eventually garnered 10 scorer points in his first Bundesliga season last year after similarly starting slowly. The administrative tandem of Marc Lettau and Patrick Fabian were on hand to issue positive comments at the media roll-out.
"Hoffi got rolling a bit late last season and then was an immense factor in our game," Fabian noted in a press release accompanying the published photos of Hofmann brandishing his specially minted tricot, "We are sure that will be the case again this season. Philipp is a mentally strong player. He comes from the [Ruhr] region and knows Ruhr football."
Lettau added that it was Hofmann's goals in close games that helped Bochum remain in the league last season. The player himself promised that he would give everything to helping the club maintain the class this year and specifically thanked the club's fans for their support. Hofmann's new deal runs through 2026.
