Official: Skarke returns to Darmstadt on loan

The loan-out of 1. FC Union Berlin attacker back to his old club of SV Darmstadt 98 was officially confirmed on Thursday evening.
Tim Skarke's loan-out back to his old Hessen stomping grounds is confirmed. The 26-year-old - still under contract with 1. FC Union Berlin through the end of the year - will move back to his old club of SV Darmstadt 98 on loan. Skarke appeared in 81 competitive fixtures and scored 13 goals for the Lillies between 2019 and 2022.

"Tim won't have to acclimatize much," Darmstadt trainer Torsten Lieberknecht noted in a statement, "many of the players he played with two years ago are still here,"We are fully convinced that Tim can play a significant role in achieving our main objective [remaining in the league]."

"One focus of this year's transfer phase was to sign players who can be used in different positions, can help us immediately and don't need a long start-up period," club sporting director Carsten Wehlmann added, "This is absolutely the case with Tim He totally identifies with the task here in Darmstadt and knows the environment. In the second half of the season at Schalke 04, Tim also proved that he can succeed in the Bundesliga."

"It feels good to be able to play for the Lilies again," Skarke himself noted in a statement on the club's website, "Many familiar faces are still working at the club, and I've remained in contact with some of the players on the squad. I'm supremely motivated to challenge other Bundesliga clubs together with the team and help us stay in the league."
