Reports: Jerome Boateng in line for potential return to Bayern

Germany's preeminent footballing publication is currently confirming reports from Germany's main sporting tabloid that Germany's record champions may be preparing to pick up Jerome Boateng on a free.
A sensational return to the Säbener Straße may be in the works, according to Germany's preeminent footballing publication. Mario Krischel of Germany's Kicker Magazine reports that former German national team defender Jerome Boateng - without a contract since being let go by Olympique Lyon this summer - is in the sights of FC Bayern München.

The youngest of Germany's three Boateng brothers left Bayern as a free agent in the summer of 2021. He contested 229 Bundesliga games during a decade-long tenure with the German giants, winning nine league titles, five domestic cups, and two European UCL crowns. The now 35-year-old has had to deal with some off-pitch problems over the past year.

Injuries in Bayern's central defensive corps recently forced FCB trainer Thomas Tuchel to deploy midfielder Leon Goretzka at center back in a recent cup match. Bayern themselves will conclude the sixth match-day of the 2023/24 Bundesliga campaign in third place after drawing RB Leipzig 2-2 in their most recent league fixture.
