Niko Kovac has changed his Wolfsburg team frequently this season, with several players coming in and out of the starting lineup.

According to the club's captain, Maximilian Arnold, there is currently an uncertainty at the club that is taking its toll on the players.

"When there are frequent changes, some players are naturally unhappy," Arnold said in an interview with the Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung.

"You notice it yourself, you want to perform, then mistakes happen. I think there is a certain amount of uncertainty at the moment. Not because of the changes, but because of the situation we're in, because we've lost a lot of games. We're only human. That does something to you."

Arnold himself has been affected by the rotation, losing his status as an undisputed starter this season.

"My situation is obviously not satisfactory," said the 29-year-old, who described his relationship with Kovac as follows:

"We have talked. He explained his point of view and I explained mine. I don't want to be misunderstood: I don't need to go for coffee every week, but a regular exchange is important.

"Of course, a coach should have a different relationship with his captain than with the other players. That's why you have a captain."
