Official: Mainz make Siewert's appointment permanent

FSV Mainz 05 officially confirmed Jan Siewert's permanent appointment on Friday evening.

Jan Siewert's permanent installation as the head-coach of FSV Mainz 05 has been confirmed. The 41-year-old signed a new contract with the carnival club that will keep him bound to the Pfälzer capital through 2026. In a statement accompanying the news, Mainz sporting CEO Christian Heidel noted that the club had taken special care to carefully deliberate before making a decision.

"We have taken time to analyzed the sporting situation in great detail and in depth," Heidel's statement read, "We are convinced that with Jan Siewert we will achieve our sporting goal of staying in the league and that we have made the best decision for Mainz 05. Jan Siewert has given the team positive impetus. He also enjoys great support from the team and the staff, knows the club, and is passionate about this task."

"I am very pleased about the trust the club has placed in me," Siewert himself added, "I've felt [this trust] in recent weeks. We have always had an open dialogue going. We have a mutual task ahead of us. I am sure that we will master this task with the quality of the team, our team spirit, and by standing shoulder-to-shoulder with our fans."
