Borussia Dortmund will be without one of their key players in a crucial stage of the season.

As the Black and Yellows revealed on Monday, Nico Schlotterbeck has played his last game of the 2024/25 campaign.

The centre-back has suffered a meniscus tear in his left knee that will keep him out for the remainder of the season.

“Nico's absence hits us very hard,” said Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl.

“He is a very important part of our team and has impressed with consistently good performances this season. We hope that he will be fit again quickly, and he will receive maximum support from us on his way back.”

Dortmund travel to Barcelona for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday.
