FC Schalke 04 have strengthened their attacking ranks with the signing of Darko Churlinov on loan from Burnley for the remainder of the season.

Churlinov is no stranger to the 2. Bundesliga outfit, having played there on loan from Stuttgart in the 2021/22 season.

“Darko is exactly the kind of player we were looking to bring in during a difficult winter transfer period. He’s fearless, likes to take players on and will make us more unpredictable as a side," said Schalke sporting director Marc Wilmots.

"I’ve never before seen a player so motivated and up for a challenge as he is now. He will captivate both the team and the fans. I’m sure of that after speaking personally to Darko and because of all the information we gathered on him."

The 23-year-old is "pleased" to be back at the Veltins-Arena.

"I'm pleased to be back auf Schalke, I’ve always stayed in touch with the club and the fans. I want now to pay back the club for their faith in me – preferably with goals, assists, and, most of all, with wins," Churlinov said.
