Bentaleb demoted to Schalke's under-23 team

Schalke 04's Nabil Bentaleb has been dropped to the U23s for disciplinary reasons.

      Nabil Bentaleb has been demoted to Schalke 04's under-23 team 'due to disciplinary reasons,' the club have announced.

      The central midfielder will train with the U23 for an unspecified period of time, and the door remains open for him to return to the first-team squad.

      Bentaleb, 24, is currently doing rehabilitation work as he eyes a return from a groin problem.

      Schalke 04 recently appointed Huub Stevens interim coach for the rest of the season following the sacking of Domenico Tedesco as head coach.
