Marco Rose and Xaver Schlager to join Wolfsburg together?
Red Bull Salzburg coach Marco Rose has been linked with VfL Wolfsburg. And in case he joins 'Die Wölfe', he may take 21-year-old Xaver Schlager with him.
VfL Wolfsburg are interested in signing Red Bull Salzburg's Xaver Schlager, Bild understands.
According to the German news outlet, Wolfsburg want to sign a right-back, a centre-back and an attacking midfielder in the summer. And Schlager, a 21-year-old versatile midfielder, is apparently among the club's transfer targets.
Meanwhile, Wolfsburg have been said to be leading the race for the signature of Schlager's coach at Red Bull Salzburg, Marco Rose, who has also been linked with Schalke 04.
'Die Wölfe' have announced they will part company with head coach Bruno Labbadia at the end of the season, and Rose as been identified as a possible replacement.
Rose worked as a youth coach at Red Bull Salzburg from 2013 to 2017 before being appointed head coach of the first team.
Schlager, who has also been linked with RB Leipzig, has played under Rose for years - both at youth and senior level. Maybe they'll continue their cooperation in Germany.
