Michael Gregoritsch to join Werder as a replacement for Max Kruse?

Werder Bremen have been linked with Augsburg's Michael Gregoritsch - and the 25-year-old's father welcomes the interest from the Green-Whites.

Werder Bremen are reportedly considering signing Augsburg's Michael Gregoritsch as a replacement for Max Kruse who will leave the club on a free transfer this summer.

And the 25-year-old's father, Werner Gregoritsch, is pleased about the interest from Werder who have had plenty of other players from Austria such as Sebastian Prödl, Zlatko Junuzovic and Martin Harnik on their books over the years.

"Michael feels very well in Augsburg and has developed very well there. Of course, I'm very pleased that he has made a name for himself in the Bundesliga and that clubs like Werder Bremen show an interest in him. Many Austrians have moved to Bremen," Werner Gregoritsch told Bild.

Despite their interest, Werder haven't made a concrete offer for Gregoritsch at this point, according to Bild.

Augsburg have priced the Austrian international at around €15 million - a transfer fee that would potentially make him Werder's most expensive signing of all time.

The Green-Whites would prefer a cheaper solution, and Werder sporting director Frank Baumann would have to create space in the budget to be able to sign Gregoritsch.

Gregoritsch scored eight goals and made two assists in 36 appearances for Augsburg during the 2018/19 campaign.
