Bayer Leverkusen have received a boost ahead of their Champions League clash with Newcastle United, with Alex Grimaldo back in training.
The Spanish left-back missed Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Augsburg, but is expected to return against the Magpies on Wednesday.
“He looked good today and yesterday, so we are confident about ‘Grima’,” said Leverkusen coach Kasper Hjulmand at his pre-match press conference on Tuesday afternoon.
Leverkusen’s injury situation is generally improving.
“We are almost at full strength. Of course, there are players who are not in the squad, but the only injured player is (Exequiel) Palacios,” Hjulmand said.
In addition to the injured Palacios, Jonas Hofmann and Martin Terrier will not feature, as they aren't part of Leverkusen's Champions League squad.
