Sources at Fußball Transfers are aware that VfL Wolfsburg have registered their interest in Josh Mulligan from Hibernian.

However, the club from Lower Saxony isn't the only one said to be pursuing the 23-year-old midfielder's signature.

Ligue 1 side OSC Lille are said to be in a foot race with Premier League duo Nottingham Forest and Leeds United.

Mulligan only joined the Scottish outfit based in Edinburgh last summer, and since then he has developed exceptionally well.

This season, he has scored three goals and provided three assists in 24 competitive matches across all competitions.

Mulligan's contract includes a manageable release clause meaning no negotiations with Hibernian would be necessary.

According to Transfermarkt.com, the 14-time Scottish U-21 international is valued at around €1.2million.
