Timo Werner to stay at RB Leipzig for another season?

Apparently, Timo Werner could imagine staying at RB Leipzig for another season. The club don't want to risk losing him for free in 2020 – but there might be a solution to that.
RB Leipzig star Timo Werner has reportedly grown increasingly open to spending another season at Red Bull Arena amid interest from Bayern München.

'Die Roten Bullen' are adamant not to let the striker go for free in 2020 when his contract runs out, though.

According to Bild, Werner isn't pleased that he has slipped down a place on Bayern's to-do list, with the signing of Leroy Sané from Manchester City currently their top priority.

Additionally, the 23-year-old is aware that it may be hard for him to nail down a starting berth at Allianz Arena.

Robert Lewandowski is an undisputed starter up top while Werner would have to compete with Thomas Müller for the second striker position.

When it comes to the wing positions, Bayern prefer more technically gifted players such as Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry – and potentially Leroy Sané.

According to Bild, Bayern would be willing to pay €25 million for the 23-year-old, but RB Leipzig are holding out for a fee closer to €60 million.

At the same time, however, 'Die Roten Bullen' want to avoid losing Werner for free in 2020 at all costs.

Bild comes up with a possible solution: Werner could sign a new deal with an exit clause of around €50 million that Bayern could activate next summer.
