Moisander named new Werder captain
Niklas Moisander takes over the role as Werder Bremen captain from Max Kruse.
Niklas Moisander has been appointed new captain of Werder Bremen, the club have announced.
The 33-year-old previously held the position of vice-captain, which will now be taken over by Davy Klaassen, and succeeds Max Kruse as captain.
"Niklas has valuable international experience and a natural authority. With his pleasently calm, but at the same time extremely determined and ambitious nature, he has already been a close confidant and an important contact person for me in recent years. He also has an outstanding standing in the team which makes him the perfect captain for me," said Werder coach Florian Kohfeldt.
Moisander joined Werder from Sampdoria in 2016.
