Eintracht Frankfurt boss Fredi Bobic has revealed that Sporting CP initially wanted €15-20 million for Bas Dost.
According to Bobic, the Portuguese club set a high asking price for Dost in July as they knew that Frankfurt made a lot of money from selling Luka Jovic and Sebastien Haller.
But once the English Premier League clubs were out of the race for Dost's signature, Sporting ultimately agreed to let him join Frankfurt for just €7 million.
"We have been interested in Dost for a long time," Bobic told Sport1 and continued:
"At first, Sporting didn't want to sell him for less than €15-20 million. We made a lot of money, and other clubs therefore thought we would have no limit in regard to transfer fees.
"After the English transfer window closed, Dost suddenly cost just €7 million," he said.
Dost has made two appearances for Frankfurt so far, scoring once.
