Hakan Calhanoglu: 'It's a goal of mine to play for Bayern or BVB'

Hakan Calhanoglu admits it will be hard for him to say no if the likes of Bayern München or Borussia Dortmund come knocking for him.
AC Milan's Hakan Calhanoglu refuses to rule out that he could return to Germany before the end of his career and reveals he dreams of playing for Bayern München or Borussia Dortmund.

Asked if he could imagine returning to Germany, the former Bayer Leverkusen player told Sport Bild:

"Sure! I grew up in Germany. Even though I enjoy being able to speak with the people here in Italian, I really miss the German language. And from a sporting point of view, it's a goal of mine to play for Bayern, BVB or another big club in Germany, of course."

The 25-year-old, who joined Milan from Leverkusen in 2017, was linked with a move to Bayern München when he played for Hamburger SV in the 2013/14 season, but he opted for a move to Leverkusen instead.

"It was a great honor that Bayern wanted me. But back then, they already had outstanding wingers in Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery. I'm not saying it wouldn't have worked out for me there, but it would have been difficult. Joining Leverkusen's young team was better for my development," Calhanoglu said and added:

"If Bayern come knocking for me again at some point, then I certainly won't say no. But I still have Leverkusen close to my heart as well. Bayer always remains my home."

Calhanoglu's contract with AC Milan runs until 2021.
