Ishak Belfodil reveals he wants to leave Hoffenheim as his relationship with the club is damaged beyond repair.

"There's no trust anymore and no longer any basis for a successful cooperation," Belfodil told Bild.

In the interview with Bild, Belfodil voices his frustration with the Hoffenheim's medical department.

Apparently, club doctors failed to recognise a cruciate ligament rupture suffered in May, and Belfodil subsequently played through the injury in the first five games of the 2019/20 season.

When the extent of his injury was finally discovered, Belfodil was shocked.

"I'm lucky that it wasn't even worse. My career was put at risk recklessly," the striker said.

"After my surgery, I spent three days in Hoffenheim for treatment. As neither the coach nor anyone from the club management felt it was necessary to greet me or ask for me, I didn't want to disturb them any further and went to Paris to see my medical advisors," he added.

When asked about Belfodil's treatment, Hoffenheim boss Alexander Rosen told Bild:

"All medical treatment steps have been applied in accordance with the highest medical standards, as with any injury to one of our players, and in close consultation with Ishak."

Belfodil's contract with Hoffenheim runs until 2022. He made 28 Bundesliga appearances for the club last season, racking up 16 goals and five assists.
