Christian Gentner has made it clear that he wants to continue playing beyond this season.

The 34-year-old isn't planning to retire from football when his contract with Union Berlin expires at the end of the season.

"I definitely want to continue playing," Gentner said in an interview with Kicker and added that a stay at Union Berlin is "not impossible".

"At the moment, we have a topic outside of football that concerns us," he said, referring to the coronavirus outbreak.

"But in the coming weeks, we will talk and make a decision."

The midfielder joined Union Berlin from VfB Stuttgart ahead of this season.
