Giovanni Reyna's contract with Borussia Dortmund will be automatically extended when he turns 18 years old tomorrow, according to Kicker.

Reyna's current deal, which expires in 2021, is set to be extended until 2024, as per the report.

It has previously been reported that the U.S. youngster's new contract could net him €2.5 million per season – more than twice as much as he currently earns.

Dortmund are delighted with the progress of Reyna, who has established himself as a first-team regular at Signal Iduna Park since making his senior debut in January.

"He has become a real part of the team. 'Gio' has often shown the value he adds to the squad. He's clever, skillful and dangerous in front of goal," Dortmund head of licensed player division Sebastian Kehl told Kicker.

The youngster has made a total of 30 appearances for BVB, racking up three goals and seven assists.
