Ciro Immobile equalised from the spot after Nico Schulz was adjudged to have fouled Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in the box, much to the frustration of Favre, who felt the penalty should never have been given.
Speaking after the game, the Dortmund coach blasted the decision and accused Milinkovic-Savic of diving.
"We had our chances to score the second goal. Then we concede an unnecessary penalty against us, which isn't one," Favre told Sky (via Goal.com).
"That's incredible. That's theatre, he is in a swimming pool. He exaggerates. But we are through to the next round. That's the most important thing," he added.
Fortunately for Dortmund, a draw was enough for them to seal their progress to the knockout stages, but they could have secured the top spot in Group F with a win.
