Dardai shrugs off latest loss: "A cruel twist of fate."
Another loss for Hertha BSC hardly seems like a laughing matter. Trainer Pal Dardai nevertheless kept the smile on his face despite his team's latest set-back.
Appearing before the Sky Microphone's following his side's 0-2 loss to Wolfsburg, 44-year-old Hertha head-coach Pal Dardai laughed as he summarised the 90 minutes just completed.
"Without a great scoring chance, they win 2-0," Dardai said with a smirk, "there one has to say that it's just a cruel twist of fate."
Germany's Wölfe doubled their advantage one minute from time with their first real chance on goal. Oliver Glasner's men had led the match since the 37th, when Lukas Klünter conceded an unfortunate own-goal.
Dardai also attributed this occurrence to the German word "Schicksal", which can be translated to "fate", "fortune", or "destiny". In terms of Hertha's offensive opportunities, Krzysztof Piatek, Jhon Cordoba, and Deyovaisio Zeefuik all squandered excellent chances to score for the capital city club.
"We carved out two or three hundred-percent opportunities, but if you don't score it's a dangerous game," the trainer noted, "that's the psychological pressure at work."
Dardai lauded his team for confronting a Champions' League aspirant with a "Champions' League mentality" and, for the second week in a row, said that the squad had responded to his tactical directives "in an orderly manner."
