Much to to the surprise of Amin Younes, he has been recalled to Germany coach Joachim Löw's squad for the first time since 2017.

"I wasn't expecting it at all," Younes told reporters at a press conference on Tuesday ahead of the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Iceland, Romania and North Macedonia.

"I didn't think it was go this fast, but I'm very happy to have been invited back again and to have the chance to train and play with Germany's best players."

Younes has regained his top form after joining Frankfurt on a two-year loan spell from Napoli in October. Even though he struggled in Italy, the 27-year-old never broke contact with Löw.

"We were in contact at times during my spell at would naturally like to claim a spot in the German squad for this summer's Euros.

"That's a big dream for me, of course. I very much want to take part in that. We have great players in Germany, and the competition is big. I'm glad I'm given a chance now."
