Stuttgart captain Gonzalo Castro in talks over new deal
VfB Stuttgart coach Pellegrino Matarazzo would like to tie captain Gonzalo Castro down to a new deal.
VfB Stuttgart are in talks with captain Gonzalo Castro over a contact extension, head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo has revealed.
Castro, 33, is out of contract this summer, but Matarazzo could see him staying for another season.
"You can see his importance for the team. Of course I can imagine 'Gonzo' staying with us for another year," Matarazzo told Kicker after Sunday's 1-0 win over Werder Bremen.
"We are in talks with the player and his agent and will try to find the best possible solution for the club and the player."
