Gonzalo Castro 'very disappointed' not to be offered a new Stuttgart deal

Gonzalo Castro has taken to Instagram to state that he's 'very disappointed' not to be offered a new contract with VfB Stuttgart.
On Wednesday, it was announced that VfB Stuttgart will part company with Gonzalo Castro at the end of the season when the 33-year-old is out of contract.

In an Instagram post, Castro has now revealed that, much to his disappointment, he wasn't offered a new deal by VfB Stuttgart.

"Unfortunately, after this season, my journey with VfB will have to come to an end. I've spent three very emotional years here with sporting highlights and painful defeats. As an athlete, you grow from your challenges when you meet resistance and decide not to give up. That's exactly what I and we as a team set out to do after the relegation season, and we succeeded in impressively confirming this after getting promoted," Castro stated and continued:

"I would have been very happy to help shape this hopeful path in the future and continue to lead the boys onto the pitch. But the club has decided on a different path, which I respect and yet am very disappointed that the club did not make an offer.

"I have had an incredible amount of fun representing this team and club as captain!
Thank you to the team and fans for your support!"
