Hannes Wolf has challenged himself to improve from his first season at Borussia Mönchengladbach, which saw him start just 14 league games.

"That's not my ambition. I want to be on the pitch every minute," emphasized Wolf in an interview with Sport Bild.

"To do that, I have to bring consistency to my performances, and I started working on that even before our pre-season started," added the 22-year-old midfielder, whose loan move from RB Leipzig was made permanent for €9,5 million.

Wolf is eager to assert himself under new Gladbach coach Adi Hütter, who has come in to replace Marco Rose.

"It's no secret that Marco Rose has been a great supporter on my path so far. But I'm eager to prove myself here now under Adi Hütter and show that Borussia made a good decision by signing me on a permanent deal," said Wolf.

"You can already sense the football philosophy of our coach. We want to play fast and aggressively, win the ball early and look for the shortest way to the goal. That's a philosophy I like.

"We work with the ball in every training session, but always very intensively. The coach has been challenging us a lot in the first few weeks - but that's a good thing."
