Rolfes still hopeful of extending Tah's contract: "The door is not closed"

Although Jonathan Tah has made it clear that he wants to leave Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season, club boss Simon Rolfes hasn't given up hope of keeping the defender.

Jonathan Tah agreed personal terms to join Bayern Munich in the summer, but the move didn't materialize because the two clubs couldn't agree on a transfer fee.

Tah has since made it clear that he wants to leave the Werkself at the end of the season, when his contract expires, and join Bayern - or another top European club - at that point.

Despite this, Bayer Leverkusen managing director for sport Simon Rolfes is still hoping to extend the defender's contract.

"Ruling things out is always one of those things in football, there can always be new developments. That's the situation at the moment, but we've never ruled anything out. The door is not closed," Rolfes told Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger.

According to the newspaper, a contract extension with a release clause is a possibility.
