Australia and Egypt face off as both national teams look for their first-ever knockout stage win at the World Cup. Australia opened their campaign with a sensational win over Türkiye before failing to score in the last two group stage fixtures.

Connor Metcalfe scored their latest goal with their second in the 2-0 victory against Türkiye. St. Pauli’s midfielder starts once again, while his teammate both at club and country, Jackson Irvine, is also in the starting lineup for Australia.

Egypt came into the tournament without a win, but Mohamed Salah inspired them to finish Group G unbeaten. Their sole victory came against New Zealand on matchday two.
