Mainz have been one of the surprise packages in the Bundesliga this season, sitting in third place at the moment, and that's thanks in no small part to the performances of Nadiem Amiri.

Amiri was recently rewarded for his performances with a call-up to the German national team, and the midfielder has also impressed other clubs, with Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig reportedly keeping tabs on him.

Speaking to Sport Bild, Amiri insists he's happy at Mainz, but won't guarantee he'll be playing for the club next season.

"I told my agent to leave me alone until the summer. I have such a big goal with the club. I want to finish it first," said Amiri.

“I don't know what will happen in the summer. I'm not one to say I'll stay at Mainz 05 forever. But the story is not over yet. And I extended my contract until 2028 last summer for a reason.”

Asked if Champions League qualification would be an incentive for him to stay, Amiri replied:

"Absolutely. The Europa League too. That's the stage where you can show yourself the most".
