According to Sky Germany's information, negotiations between 1.FC Heidenheim and Leonidas Stergiou are progressing well.

Heidenheim are hoping to take the Swiss defender until the end of the season from fellow Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart.

However, no final agreement has been reached just yet for the 23-year-old who has only managed a brief appearance in the DFB-Pokal.

Stuttgart hasn't given the go-ahead either given both back-up central defenders Dan-Axel Zagadou and Luca Jaquez are injured.

Nonetheless, a decision could be made next week. If he makes the move, Stergiou would greatly bolster Frank Schmidt's rearguard.

Valued at €5million by Transfermarkt.com, he is capable of playing as both a centre-half and a right-sided full-back.
