Bayern Munich are close to agreeing a deal to appoint Burnley manager Vincent Kompany as their new head coach, according to multiple reports.

According to transfer market journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Sky Germany and Bild, the Bavarians have reached a verbal agreement with Kompany.

The deal isn't done yet, but Bayern are in negotiations with Burnley over a compensation fee and are confident of reaching a full agreement, according to reports from England.

After leading Burnley to an impressive promotion to the Premier League, Kompany was unable to save the club from relegation this season.

His playing career is best remembered for his long spell at Manchester City, but he also played for Anderlecht and Hamburger SV.

Bayern have been looking for a new coach since February, when it was announced that Thomas Tuchel would be stepping down at the end of the season.
