Darmstadt confirm second summer signing

After striker Fynn Lakenmacher, SV Darmstadt 98 have secured another attacker for their coming season in the German second division. Twenty-seven-year-old attacking midfielder Luca Marseiler will join the Lilies on a free from 3. Liga side Viktoria Köln. Marseiler once trained at the FC Bayern campus before playing in the fourth and third tiers with neighboring SpVgg Unterhaching. He moved to Vikoria - for which he has scored 14 goals and registered eight assists this year - in 2021. 

"Luca Marseiler brings the necessary hunger and passion that we want to see," Darmstadt's newly appointed English sporting director Paul Fernie remarked in a statement accompanying the signing, "He sees the new division as a great opportunity for himself and wants to prove himself, and that's exactly the fire and motivation we need. We are delighted that he has chosen us despite other offers. And we have every confidence that he will help us in the second division."

"The overall development of the club in the recent past is impressive," the player himself added, "They've been doing a good job here for many years.The people in charge at Darmstadt have made a great effort to recruit me and have given me a clear concept of how they see my role and how they want to approach the coming season."
