Neuer: 'I'm not saying that I'll be retiring at 40'

Having turned 35, Manuel Neuer can see himself continuing his career for several years.
Germany and Bayern München captain Manuel Neuer isn't planning to retire anytime soon.

Speaking to Bild am Sonntag, the 35-year-old says he can imagine playing beyond the age of 40.

"It depends on certain factors: fitness, that I'm physically well, that I don't drag myself into training. I don't want to have to take painkillers to train. I have to be able to perform at my best. I have to be needed by the team. And I have to have fun and be really up for it," said Neuer.

"Living consciously, eating healthily and getting a good night's sleep are important to me. But there is no age limit for me. I'm not saying that I'll be retiring at 40."
