Sport Bild Report: Bobic in contact with Tedesco over trainer job
Germany's main sporting tabloid reports that Hertha Sporting CEO has reached out to former colleague Domenico Tedesco about the possibility of taking over the head-coaching position.
Former Schalke 04 trainer Domenico Tedesco is once again being linked with a return to the Bundesliga. According to Sport Bild, Fredi Bobic has phoned up a former colleague he once worked with during his days as an administrator in Stuttgart. The 36-year-old Tedesco is currently in charge at Spartak Moscow in the Russian Premiership; contracted through the end of the current season.
Tedesco has been linked with a number of Bundesliga coaching job since his tenure with Schalke 04 came to an abrupt end in the spring of 2019. Some sources have reported that he rejected specific offers from German clubs. Transfermarkt.de also reports that Tedesco turned down former colleague Ralf Rangnick when offered the head-coaching position at Lokomotiv Moscow some weeks back. Rangnick ultimately installed Markus Gisdol.
The Sport Bild report, not unlike the news that broke earlier in the month concerning Bobic's contact with former BVB interim trainer Edin Terzic, also seems to imply that Tedesco may have already turned the club down. Sport Bild does not specifically state this, however. The paper simply says that Bobic and Tedesco began preliminary discussions approximately a month ago.
Rumors concerning the future of current Hertha trainer Pal Dardai will obviously not be going away anytime soon. No matter how many times the Hungarian head-coach insists that he still has interest in his job, the v very public scuffle between Bobic and Dardai after the latter effectively offered his resignation three matches into the season continues to loom over their relationship.
Bobic's last public comments on the matter did insist that Dardai enjoyed his "total confidence" and could be "relaxed about his duties."
