Dortmund sign Italian youth international

Eight-time Italy U-17 defender Filippo Mane (16) is Dortmund's new signing for the U19 team.

Speaking to WAZ, Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has confirmed the signing of 16-year-old Filippo Mane from Sampdoria.

The sixteen-year-old Senegalese-Italian has been playing his football with the academy of Serie A Champions Sampdoria Genoa known as 'Sampdoria Primavera' which is headed up by former Como and Sampdoria midfielder Giovanni Invernizzi.

The right-footed Centre-back has made 19 appearances this season so far with the club's U17 team and one in the Italian Youth cup 'Coppa Primavera' in a 3-2 win over Torino.



BVB's U19 side with 8 league titles is second only to VfB Stuttgart (10) in terms of titles won at the U19 level.

The side play their football in Bundesliga-West the Western division of the elite level which is divided across 3 regions North/North-East, West and South/South-West.

Sampdoria's former players include David Platt, Samuel Eto'o, Simone Inzaghi, Jürgen Klinsmann, Roberto Mancini, Shkodran Mustafi and Juan Sebastian Veron.
