Since 2019, German entrepreneur Lars Windhorst has injected €375 million into Hertha BSC.

Windhorst's ambitions were high when he arrived, but things haven't gone according to plan, with 14th-placed Hertha currently fighting to avoid relegation.

In an interview with Capital, the 45-year-old has now hit out at the club's management.

"I was counting on Hertha, having people in charge, who were rational and thinking about the future and who also wanted sustainable success," Windhorst said.

In recent months, however, it has become clear to him that some people are the club have been primarily concerned with "maintaining power and cronyism".

Asked if he sees his investment as a mistake, Windhorst replied:

"Honestly, from today's perspective, yes, unfortunately. So far, apart from positive experiences with many members, the investment at Hertha has only brought me disadvantages."

The 45-year-old has no intention of giving up, however.

"I won't let anyone burn €375 million, and that's why I'll never give up," underlined Windhorst.

"I'll lead the investment to success, even if it will take much longer than originally planned."
