Borussia Dortmund wonderkid Jadon Sancho recently put pen to paper on a new contract that runs until 2022. Speaking to Sport Bild, the young winger has explained his decision to commit his future to the BVB.

"You can see why straight away. I play a lot here. It's important for young players to develop. You never know what will happen in the future, but I'm really happy right now," he said.

The 18-year-old was linked with clubs such as Liverpool and Manchester United, but opted to stay in Germany for now. And Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc expects Sancho to stick around for a while although he is aware the youngster has drawn attention from some of Europe's biggest clubs.

"I'm pretty sure Jadon will be playing with us for some time," Zorc told Sport Bild and added:

"We have to live with the consequences of our good performances - and that has particularly been the case since we won the league in 2011. We know that our players arouse the desires of clubs that have an even greater appeal than we do, and we try to deal with them as well as possible."

"I see it in a positive way: It shows that the BVB are doing a good job. It would be worse if nobody cared about our players," Zorc said.

Sancho has played 13 games for Dortmund this season, scoring five goals and making eight assists.
