Borussia Dortmund were down twice against Bayern München, but ended up defeating the Bavarians 3-2 in a thrilling game at Signal Iduna Park. The win means that the BVB increase the gap to Bayern to seven points.

However, it was the guests who were in front at the break thanks to a Robert Lewandowski goal. The Polish international headed the ball past Marwin Hitz, who were playing instead of the injured Roman Bürki, after a great cross from Serge Gnabry with 25 minutes on the clock.

Shortly after the break, Dortmund were awarded a penalty after Manuel Neuer brought down Marco Reus in the penalty area, and the BVB captain stepped up to convert the penalty himself. But Bayern responded a handful of minutes later when Lewandowski scored again after some quick combination play.

But Dortmund refused to give up, and after missing several good chances, the home side finally made it 2-2 after 67 minutes as Marco Reus got on the scoresheet for the second time with a great first-time finish after a Lukasz Piszczek cross.

Seven minutes later, substitute Paco Alcacer got the winner. The Spaniard was played in behind the Bayern defence by Axel Witsel and cheekily lifted the ball over Manuel Neuer to give Dortmund the lead.

Bayern pushed for the equaliser, and Robert Lewandowski actually got the ball in the net again deep into injury time, but the goal was ruled out for offside. Instead, Dortmund took all three points and added to Bayern's woes.

The win means Dortmund are four points clear of Borussia Mönchengladbach at the top of the Bundesliga - and seven points in front of Bayern who are sitting third.
