Bayern München's summer plans: Who will come and who will go?
Bayern München are facing a squad upheaval next summer. The question is who will join the club and who will leave.
This year, Bayern München only made one summer signing in the form of Leon Goretzka who made the move from Schalke 04 on a free transfer. But the Bavarians are facing much more activity on the transfer market next summer.
18-year-old Alphonso Davies will join Bayern in the winter, and club president Uli Hoeness recently ruled out making any other winter signings. However, he also made it clear that there are big plans for the summer of 2019.
"Next year, when the second step of the upheaval comes, we will certainly change the face of the team quite a bit," he said.
Below, we take a look at the players who could join the club - and the players who could leave.
Who will come?
According to Kicker, Bayern are looking for passionate, strong and fast players with a strong will and hunger for success. It's estimated that the Bavarians will have to spend around €200 million to get the signings they want.
The German magazine claims that a €35 million deal that will take VfB Stuttgart's Benjamin Pavard to Bayern is already in place.
Bayern are also said to be keeping an eye on Eintracht Frankfurt's Luka Jovic who has been in great form this season. However, the German champions could face feisty competition for the Serbian striker who has also drawn interest from Spain and England.
Meanwhile, Bayern seem to have won the race to sign Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey on a free transfer next summer according to The Independent.
According to Bild, Bayern are also keeping tabs on Christian Pulisic, Leon Bailey, Ante Rebic, Nicolas Pépé, Florian Thauvin, Nabil Fekir, Anthony Martial and Frenkie de Jong.
Who will go?
The aging Franck Ribery (35), Arjen Robben (34) and Rafinha (33) all have contracts that are running out after this season, and it's currently doubtful if they will stay.
But players such as Javi Martinez, Thomas Müller, Mats Hummels, James Rodriguez and David Alaba will also need to prove themselves in the coming months as Hoeness won't rule out selling some of the club's big names.
"It depends on how they play. You have to tell the players that they are under pressure for the next three or four months. And then you will take a look at who is useful and who is not," Hoeness said to Kicker.
Bayern have the option to tie Real Madrid loanee James Rodriguez down to a permanent deal for €42 million, but currently look unlikely to do so, Kicker reports.
