Eight players on Bayern München's transfer wishlist

Here are the eight players that are reportedly on Bayern München's list of transfer targets.
Bayern München had a very quiet summer transfer window, but the club bosses have indicated that German champions are likely to be much more active on the transfer market in 2019.

"We are collecting a bit of money at the moment in case we have to buy a bit bigger next year," Bayern München president Uli Hoeness told Sky in August.

But which players are Bayern München considering? According to Sport Bild, there are eight names on the list of transfer targets. Most of them are offensive players as the Bavarians are looking for replacements for the aging Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben whose contracts will run out next summer.

Within the Bundesliga, the Bavarians are looking at Borussia Dortmund's Christian Pulisic, Bayer Leverkusen's Leon Bailey and Eintracht Frankfurt's Ante Rebic whom Bayern coach Niko Kovac already wanted to sign in the summer.

Pulisic's contract runs out in 2020, and Borussia Dortmund will probably let the American winger leave next summer if it isn't possible to convince him to sign a new contract.

Both Bailey and Rebic recently signed new deals with their respective clubs, but the latter has said he won't rule out that a summer transfer could be on the cards.

Meanwhile, three other candidates play in the French Ligue 1 where Bayern's chief scout Laurent Busser has good contacts. Lille OSC's Nicolas Pépé, Olympique Marseille's Florian Thauvin and Olympique Lyon's Nabil Fekir have apparently all caught the eye of the Bavarians.

Another option for the offense is Manchester United's Anthony Martial who was heavily linked with a move to the Allianz Arena in the summer. The 22-year-old's contract runs out after this season, but 'The Red Devils' have an option to extend the deal by one year.

Finally, Bayern are also looking at the highly-rated Ajax starlet Frenkie de Jong who can both play as a midfielder and as a defender. However, the Bavarians face fierce competition for the 21-year-old who has also been linked with Real Madrid and particularly FC Barcelona.
