Sammer on Moukoko: "There should be mutual appreciation"

Borussia Dortmund advisor Matthias Sammer admits that the club can do more to show Youssoufa Moukoko that he's a valued part of the squad, but also points out that appreciation goes both ways.
Youssoufa Moukoko's future remains up in the air, with Borussia Dortmund yet to agree a new deal with the 17-year-old striker, whose contract expires in 2023.

Dortmund remain keen on keeping the highly-rated striker, who scored goals for fun as a youth player, but the 17-year-old is pondering over his future, having admitted that he wants more playing time.

In an interview with Kicker, Borussia Dortmund advisor Matthias Sammer has shared his thoughts on Moukoko's situation.

"He's still young, and we as a club could perhaps have signaled to him more in the past that he an be an important factor for the team," said Sammer.

"On the other hand, it doesn't make sense for him to flirt with a transfer. There should be mutual appreciation, and that will be the case in the near future."
