Terzic: Dortmund taking a "cautious approach" with Gio Reyna

Borussia Dortmund coach Edin Terzic has revealed that he's taking a "cautious approach" with Giovanni Reyna following the 19-year-old's injury-riddled 2021/22 season.

Reyna featured just 12 times last season and still needs some time to get back into peak condition after recovering from his most recent setback – a muscle injury that kept him out of Dortmund's last five league games of the season.

"'Gio' was out for a long time. He's a young guy who has had to deal with an extreme amount of setbacks in the last twelve months. We want to ensure that he doesn't suffer a new setback, that he gets confidence in himself and his body again and that he has fun playing football again," Terzic told Ruhr Nachrichten.

"That's why we prefer to take a more cautious approach. Because it's about him staying with us for a very, very long time."

Reyna completed parts of team training yesterday.
