For the past two seasons, Patrik Schick and Victor Boniface have been battling for a starting berth front for Bayer Leverkusen.

But in the second half of Leverkusen's Bundesliga match against Stuttgart on Sunday, the two strikers found themselves on the pitch at the same time, as Die Werkself were chasing goals.

Asked if the two strikers could start together following his side's 4-3 win, Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso replied at his post-match press conference:

"Of course it's a possibility. We almost played with three strikers today, with (Amine) Adli also on the pitch. We wanted more presence in the box than in the first half.

"With their physical presence, they helped each other, and we were in the box a lot. It worked very well today."

Schick has started Leverkusen's last four Bundesliga games. Boniface's last start was a 0-0 draw at Wolfsburg over a month ago.
