Werder Bremen’s back-up goalkeeper Mio Backhaus hopes to become the club’s first-choice next season.

The highly rated 20-year-old shot-stopper wants to remain at Bremen, but a move away can’t be ruled out.

Barcelona were interested in signing the German last summer with a plan to loan him out which never materialised.

Premiership side Brighton also considered an offer before the 2024-25 season, while Copenhagen weighed up a move this winter.
