Goalscorer Ginter speaks on Freiburg return: "Just as it was back then."

Pleasantly euphoric after scoring an artistic goal, German national team defender Matthias Ginter discussed what it felt like to be back in a Freiburg tricot following his side's big win.

Over 3000 days since a then 20-year-old Matthias Ginter last appeared in the colors of Germany's Schwarzwaldverein, Matthias Ginter loudly proclaimed his return to SC Freiburg with an excellent defensive performance and a memorable headed goal.

"A bunch of people were reminding me that my first professional game was against Augsburg and I scored there two," Ginter mused afterwards, "[they said] you should do it again. I told them, 'yeah right'."

Ginter's well-timed leap secured the 3-0 at WWK Arena on Saturday, effectively sealing the game for the BaWü guests. Asked about his emphatic finish, the German national team defender turned the question into a chance to praise his fellow new club acquisition Michael Gregoritsch.

"He won an insane amount of headers today," Ginter noted, "I thought he would win that one too."

Asked what it felt like to be back representing the SCF, Ginter dropped a not-so-subtle hint that the club culture was the same as it was under the very same trainer running the team when he left in 2014. Christian Streich enters his 13th season as the Breisguaer gaffer.

"They're all great guys, just like it was back then," Ginter remarked enthusiastically "I think that's our big advantage. We have super characters who can play good football too."
