Werder Bremen's head of professional football, Peter Niemeyer, has revealed that Marvin Ducksch's contract will soon be renewed.

"His contract will be extended soon and we are very happy about that," Niemeyer told Deichstube.

The 31-year-old's current deal reportedly includes a clause that will automatically extend Ducksch's stay in Bremen until 2026 if he plays at least 45 minutes in 25 league games this season.

Ducksch has made 23 Bundesliga appearances so far this season, meaning he could reach the 25-game mark against VfB Stuttgart on 13 April.

The 31-year-old striker joined Werder for a reported 4 million from Hannover 96 and has quickly established himself as a key member of the squad.
