At the age of 27, Hoffenheim captain Kevin Vogt still hasn't played for the German national team.

However, the centre-back suggests he should be in contention for a call-up with his performances for Hoffenheim and hopes that his hard work will eventually bear fruit.

"I have to recommend myself with my performances. If I look back at the past two years, there have been good performances, even over a longer period of time. I'm trying to keep it up, and then we'll see if I get called up someday," Vogt told the Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung.

Vogt, who was linked with a move to Bayern München during the summer, played for various German national youth teams between 2008 and 2013. He made eight appearances for Germany's under-21 side.

The centre-back has made 89 appearances for Hoffenheim since he joined the club from FC Köln in 2016.
