Werner and Füllkrug confirm that suspended Ducksch should return and start

SV Werder Bremen trainer Ole Werner did not wish to reveal the reasoning behind striker Marvin Ducksch's midweek suspension, but did emphasize that the matter is behind both the player and the team on Friday morning.

Ducksch's prolific attacking partner also expressed enthusiasm at having his regular colleague back.
The reason behind Marvin Ducksch's midweek suspension officially remains a mystery. SV Werder Bremen head-coach Ole Werner did not wish discuss rumors appearing of Bremen's fan-site, Deichstube.de, that the 28-year-old had been late for several team meetings and gotten caught partying late into the night at a local discotheque.

Werner did note that the matter was over.

"There's a high probability that he'll be on the pitch from the start this weekend," the SV gaffer said, "We are glad that he's back in full."

After the team's elimination in this week's second round DFB Pokal fixture against SC Paderborn 07, Ducksch's striking partner Niclas Füllkrug made clear that he was looking forward to working with his regular colleague as well. Füllkrug himself experienced such an issue when suspended from the squad almost precisely one year ago.

"I'm looking forward to his return on Saturday," Füllkrug noted at the the Friday presser, "There might have been one or two more scoring opportunities [against Paderborn], simply because I have an intuitive understanding with him [Ducksch]."

Both Werner and Füllkrug sought to emphasize that they were not not totally dissatisfied with the performance of back-up Oliver Burke, subbed off after 57 minutes in the Pokal loss. Both men nevertheless reiterated that there were reasons why Ducksch remained the first choice to serve alongside Füllkrug.

"He's taken his penalty," Füllkrug said of his colleague, "I hope he learns from it, too. Some guys are like that. You just have to be careful that you don't go too far. The club has set a limit, which we as a team have supported. It's a shame that we couldn't manage to replace him."
