Palacios in race against time to be fit for Union SG clash
Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso is hopeful that Exequiel Palacios will be fit for Thursday's Europa League clash against Union SG.
Bayer Leverkusen are sweating over the fitness of midfielder Exequiel Palacios ahead of Thursday's Europa League quarterfinal return leg against Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium.
Palacios was forced off at the break of the first leg, which ended 1-1, and missed Sunday's 0-0 draw with Wolfsburg.
Asked by Bild about the possibility of the Argentine midfielder being fit for Thursday's game, Xabi Alonso said on Sunday:
"We have to wait, it is still questionable until Wednesday or Thursday. He is getting better every day. We are optimistic, but we have to wait a bit".
