Waldschmidt set to join Köln, per Kicker

Kicker reports that Wolfsburg attacker Luca Waldschmidt is close to joining FC Köln.

According to Kicker, negotiations for the 27-year-old forward are at an advanced stage.
A loan until the summer of 2024 is planned, after which "in the best case" a purchase option should kick in, which would tie Waldschmidt to Köln until 2027.
The flexible attacking player joined VfL almost two years ago from Benfica for a reported €12 million on a contract until 2025.
The 27-year-old only played around 500 minutes in the league last season and was last included in Niko Kovac's starting eleven in February.
