New Werder deal looks likely for Füllkrug

Sky Germany reports that Werder Bremen are in a good position to extend Niclas Füllkrug's contract.
Werder Bremen appear to have a good chance of keeping Niclas Füllkrug beyond the summer.

The 30-year-old striker has been linked with a move away from the Weserstadion following his impressive 2022/23 campaign in which he finished as the Bundesliga's joint top scorer with 16 goals.

However, according to Sky Germany, a contract extension with Werder Bremen is currently more likely than a summer move.

The German media outlet reports that Füllkrug has yet to receive an offer more attractive than staying at Werder and signing a new contract on improved terms.

Füllkrug's current contract expires in 2025. His striking partner, Marvin Ducksch, already looks set to stay, with reports suggesting he'll extend his contract beyond 2024.
